Detailed Description

Energy Efficiency

The usage of automated functions already save energy in every installation. Especially the usage of KNX has a lot of potential for further energy savings, which can contribute to a better environmental footprint. Be extending KNX to more functions and applications, energy savings of up to 60% can be realised. Thanks to the flexibility of KNX, these functions can easily be implemented in this installation

Innovation

Smart homes and buildings are always an upgrade in comparison to a conventional installation. Not only automated functions and a higher level of comfort contribute to a higher living standard, but also the possibility to be ready for coming innovations. Thanks to the usage of KNX, the door has been opened to integrate new innovative solutions, using the worldwide STANDARD for home and building control.

Customers Description

IKEA Sylvia Park – First IKEA Store in New Zealand This landmark project, opened in December 2024, is the first IKEA store in New Zealand and one of the largest IKEA stores in Australia/New Zealand region. The lighting control system is fully based on KNX, implementing a distributed intelligence architecture to ensure 24/7 operational robustness – any single device failure does not affect other zones. The system integrates presence detectors, daylight harvesting sensors, time scheduling, and BMS interfacing, achieving energy savings up to 60%. Flexible KNX wiring (daisy-chain, star, branch) reduced cabling cost and complexity in a steel-intensive building structure. Over 400 KNX devices (power supplies, DALI gateways, relay actuators, sensors, IP router, etc.) were deployed. The open KNX standard guarantees easy future reconfiguration, low-cost upgrades, and cross‑vendor interoperability, making this project a scalable and sustainable model for global retail applications.
