Detailed Description

Energy Efficiency

The usage of automated functions already save energy in every installation. Especially the usage of KNX has a lot of potential for further energy savings, which can contribute to a better environmental footprint. Be extending KNX to more functions and applications, energy savings of up to 60% can be realised. Thanks to the flexibility of KNX, these functions can easily be implemented in this installation

Innovation

Smart homes and buildings are always an upgrade in comparison to a conventional installation. Not only automated functions and a higher level of comfort contribute to a higher living standard, but also the possibility to be ready for coming innovations. Thanks to the usage of KNX, the door has been opened to integrate new innovative solutions, using the worldwide STANDARD for home and building control.

Customers Description

NIKKEN Building No.1 is a 57-year-old Osaka office building designed by NIKKEN SEKKEI, completed in 2025 as part of the "Zenove (Zero Energy Renovation)" project — achieving ZEB Ready certification through renovation. Matt & Massimo contributed a KNX-based window control system using 6 control units and 12 LED indicators across 4 manufacturers. Outdoor sensors monitor temperature, humidity, wind, and rainfall in real time. When outdoor conditions are suitable, motorized windows open automatically. They close when rain or strong wind is detected — and time-based schedules ensure closure outside designated ventilation hours. On tenant floors, indicator lamps illuminate when conditions are ideal, prompting occupants to reduce air conditioning use. Facility managers remotely monitor status and adjust thresholds or schedules from any location via browser or app — enabling efficient off-site management without on-site presence.
