Key facts
- KNX Standard v3.0.5 now available for KNX Manufacturers
- Expanded lighting capabilities with HSV-based colour control
- Standardised secure remote access without requiring a VPN
- Aligned KNX IoT specifications and standardised firmware updates
Expanded capabilities for lighting applications
KNX Standard v3.0.5 expands the possibilities for lighting control with HSV-based colour handling, allowing KNX Manufacturers to implement colour tone, saturation and brightness without proprietary RGB conversion logic. This simplifies development while providing greater flexibility for advanced colour control. The update also introduces standardised functions for lighting device identification, measurement, diagnostics and maintenance. KNX Manufacturers can develop more advanced lighting products within a common KNX framework, while improved interoperability helps ensure consistent behaviour between devices from different manufacturers.
Cloud-based access
With the integration of the Cloud Interface into KNX Standard v3.0.5, KNXnet/IP installations can be accessed remotely and securely without requiring a VPN. This provides a standardised approach for commissioning, diagnostics and service access, reducing the need for proprietary solutions. For integrators and manufacturers, this can simplify remote support and troubleshooting by making installations accessible without additional network configuration, while maintaining a consistent approach across the KNX ecosystem.
Standardised firmware updates
KNX Standard v3.0.5 introduces a standardised way to securely update individual KNX devices. This simplifies maintenance, supports longer product lifecycles and provides a consistent update process across devices from different manufacturers. The new mechanism also contributes to the security of KNX installations and gives KNX Manufacturers another important tool to support compliance with relevant requirements of the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Aligned KNX IoT test specifications
KNX Standard v3.0.5 aligns the KNX IoT test specifications with the latest KNX IoT system architecture, covering the 3rd Party API, Point API and KNX IoT Router. This gives KNX Manufacturers a consistent basis for implementation and testing, supporting certification and interoperability across KNX Classic and KNX IoT devices. The updated specifications also simplify the integration of KNX IoT devices by providing a common approach to APIs and communication models, supporting greater consistency across the KNX ecosystem.
Now available for KNX Manufacturers
KNX Standard v3.0.5 is now available for KNX Manufacturers via MyKNX. This release marks another step in the continuous development of the KNX Standard, supporting KNX Manufacturers in developing and certifying interoperable products across KNX Classic and KNX IoT.
