Smart entry systems are a perfect example of making smart technology more practical and accessible to a broader audience of homeowners. Smart locks, for instance, come in very handy when you want to temporarily share access, while video doorbells are very convenient when you’re not at home. KNX ensures that all individual devices of your smart entry system are integrated correctly and communicate seamlessly with each other. Leaving homeowners with minimal intrusion and manual actions
With the term ‘enhanced access control’ and ‘smart entry systems’ we refer to the use of technology to manage and regulate who can enter a property or a specific area within it. This system replaces traditional keys and locks of your home with digital solutions, like keycards, video doorbells, or smartphone apps.
Entry systems are often seen as a security measurement, but they are above all very practical as well. Answering the door from work and receiving a delivery, or welcoming guests to your dinner party, when you’re busy prepping. It’s these kinds of ‘small’ things that make daily life a lot more convenient.
At KNX, we mean serious business when it comes to the safety and security of our systems. That’s why we launched KNX Secure, which states the standards our installations have to comply with. Communication between devices is always all data-encrypted, the IP addresses of our systems are 100% protected and users of our smart system always have to prove their authentication.
KNX allows for a centralized management of your access control. What does that exactly mean? All individual devices, like a video doorbell, smart locks, speakers, can be managed from a single touchpoint. This touchpoint can either be an app or a smart control panel. By unifying the controls, homeowners enjoy the ultimate convenience of the advanced technologies without being tech-savvy.
Easily adjust the access levels of individuals. Let’s explain it with an example. You might not want your children to barge into your workshop or laundry room for safety reasons. By using a smart lock, you can easily limit their access, giving you peace of mind.
It’s true that some smart locks still work with a regular key, however, they are also equipped with a lot of smart features. Via an app you can for example remotely open and close the door, very handy when your courrier quickly wants to drop off a delivery. Or easily limit the access of certain areas of your home to certain people, like your children.
A video doorbell ensures that you are in touch with your house at all times. Thanks to the real-time video streaming and two-way communication features, you can answer the door from virtually anywhere. Many video doorbells can also be linked to your security system, this way you’ll have an eye on the surroundings of your complete property.
Smart intercoms work seamlessly with your smart locks and video doorbell. It works similarly to the app that allows you to remotely talk to whoever’s at the door. When you’re at home but too busy to answer the door or gate, a smart intercom is much more accessible and convenient to use.
The Busch Smarttouch 10” is an example certified device by KNX, meaning it can be fully incorporated into your smart home setup.
Like all modifications or additions to your smart home setup, we advise you to work with a KNX professional. Our installer will first assess the entry points of your home and suggest which solutions are best implemented. As soon as you are in agreement on the devices, he or she will install the units and configure them to your KNX system.
Once installed, you can enjoy your newfound convenience. Like your TV or smartphone, the devices of your entry system will need an update once in a while. Most updates you can do yourself, but in doubt you can ofcourse contact your installer.
