ESYLUX - Easily connect a KNX multi-sensor: New version of the ATMO presence detector from ESYLUX

ATMO presence detectors from ESYLUX provide for an improvement of room atmosphere in an energy-efficient way: By extensive multi-sensors for energy-efficient control of lighting, air conditioning, ventilation and heating. A new version of the highest configuration level now offers even easier installation.

VOC sensor with 30-V power supply

In addition to detecting presence, level of brightness, temperature and humidity, the PD-ATMO 360i/8 O AUX 30 V KNX also detects volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to comprehensively improve the indoor climate through air-conditioning and ventilation systems. Previously, a separate 230-V power supply was required for the VOC sensor, however the new version requires just 30 volts of additional DC power. This means that there is no need for a separate cable: Simply supply the additional voltage using the AUX output of a KNX power supply and two free wires of the KNX cable. Furthermore, the presence detector makes planning and installation work even easier by bundling all sensors into a single device.

The VOC sensor requires an additional 30 volts of DC power. The new version is simply connected using two free wires of the KNX cable.

VOCs — The main reason for ventilation

Volatile organic compounds are anthropogenic or biogenic vapours, e.g. from synthetic and building materials, carpets and cleaning agents, or people and food. Excessive concentrations have a negative effect on mood, cause eye irritation, headaches, fatigue, dizziness and reduce performance. They are an everyday occurrence, particularly in enclosed spaces such as conference rooms, offices, waiting rooms, classrooms and sanitary facilities.

Energy only when it's needed

To control air-conditioning or ventilation systems based on VOC detection, ATMO presence detectors use three individually configurable limit values. For temperature and humidity there are two limit values. Just like the presence and daylight dependent constant light control, devices are only active when people are present. As a result, energy is only consumed when it is really needed and only at the necessary level. Furthermore, an acoustic sensor supports the passive infrared presence detector to detect movement in areas with poor visibility.

At the highest configuration level, the ATMO features an air-quality sensor for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
