Raiffeisen Banks on Control4

When Raiffeisenbank in Reuss-Lindenberg, Switzerland, transformed its top floor into a multi-functional space used to host seminars, meetings and invite-only events for clients, as well as act as a social space for employees, the decision to invest in the Control4 platform for managing multiple technologies in this area proved to be an easy one.

Michael Regensburger, owner and managing director at integrator digitalhaus ag who carried out the installation explains: “About 10 years ago, we first installed KNX technology at this bank for the efficient control of heating and lighting services. We’ve since added more sub-systems throughout the building, including audio and video systems in selected areas. The Control4 platform integrates seamlessly with KNX and has always provided a simple, intuitive user-interface for all sub-systems.”

As a result, extending Control4 into this new meeting and social space became a straightforward decision.

“We need to control heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and blinds in this area as well as music and TVs,” adds Michael. “Quite simply, it’s much easier to have multiple systems controlled by one platform for the user experience, than if you have independent control for the individual sub-systems.”

In this new space, KNX is looking after the heating/cooling, ventilation, blinds, roof window and lighting control. Control4 acts as the interface to KNX and also handles the music and entertainment system via a desk panel in each meeting room and in-wall touch panels in the lounge area.

Ensuring the control system was simple and intuitive was a key aspect of the project. Regensburger adds: “It was very important to have an extremely user-friendly solution. You have people of all ages working in this bank and everyone needs to be comfortable in using the technologies that we have deployed.”

As the space is used to host a wide variety of events, it features a range of AV kit to enable this versatility. This includes an Epson projector with special lenses in the meeting room, a large display and in-wall speakers. An AMSV2 audio matrix switch and 8-zone power amplifiers from Snap One brand, Triad, ensure high-resolution audio can be delivered throughout the space. 18 audio zones are controlled throughout the building.

“The Raiffeisenbank team likes to come together to enjoy sporting events, like skiing or maybe football, in the lounge area of this space so high quality audio was important too.”

Reflecting on the project, Regensburger says: “What I’m most proud of with this project is that we could integrate almost everything onto Control4, from the operation of a very sharp projector and 3-4m diagonal display to the sound, lighting, shading and more. This delivers an efficient, multi-purpose space for Raiffeisen Bank and makes it as easy as possible for the company’s employees to manage and control.”
