International certification confirms the quality processes supporting more than 500 manufacturers and 8,000 certified products worldwide.

KNX Association has achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, an internationally recognised standard for quality management. The certification confirms the effectiveness of KNX Association's processes and reinforces its long-standing commitment to reliability, consistency and continuous improvement. For more than 35 years, KNX has been built on a foundation of quality, interoperability and trust. Today, the KNX ecosystem brings together more than 500 manufacturers and over 8,000 certified products worldwide, enabling professionals to deliver future-proof smart home and building solutions. Achieving ISO 9001 certification provides independent validation that the organisation applies the same quality-driven approach to its own operations and governance.

KEY FACTS

  • ISO 9001:2015 certification achieved
  • Quality processes independently validated
  • Covers ETS development, product and training centre certification
  • Supports a global ecosystem of 500+ manufacturers and 8,000+ certified products

Quality at the Core of KNX

The certification covers several of KNX Association's core activities, including the maintenance and advancement of KNX technology, the development of ETS software, product certification processes and the certification of training institutions. Together, these activities form the backbone of the global KNX ecosystem and help ensure the quality and consistency expected by manufacturers, system integrators, training centres and end users alike. For more than 35 years, KNX has built a reputation for reliability and interoperability. Achieving ISO 9001 certification demonstrates that the same commitment to quality extends beyond the technology itself and into the processes and governance that support its continued development.

Independent Validation of Continuous Improvement

ISO 9001 is the world's most widely recognised standard for quality management. It helps organisations meet stakeholder expectations, improve effectiveness and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Achieving certification demonstrates that the KNX Association operates in accordance with internationally recognised quality principles and best practices.

"Quality has always been fundamental to KNX," explains Joost Demarest, CTO & CFO of KNX Association. "From maintaining interoperability across thousands of products to supporting professionals through certification and training, our goal has always been to provide a reliable and future-proof foundation for smart homes and buildings. Achieving ISO 9001 certification is an important milestone because it independently confirms the effectiveness of the processes and continuous improvement culture that support the entire KNX ecosystem. It is also a notable achievement for an industry association, particularly in the home and building automation sector, where certifications of this kind are not that common."

Additional Confidence for the Global KNX Community

For the global KNX community, the certification provides additional confidence in the organisation responsible for maintaining and evolving the standard. Manufacturers benefit from robust development and certification procedures, while training centres can rely on clearly defined quality standards. System integrators, consultants and end users gain further assurance that the technologies and tools they depend on are supported by a structured and continuously improving organisation.

As smart homes and buildings become increasingly connected and energy-efficient, strong governance and high-quality standards remain essential. By achieving ISO 9001 certification, KNX Association further strengthens the trust placed in KNX and the quality values that continue to guide its development.
