KNX - a history of over 35 years! I got acquainted with KNX 20 years ago, when I also realized the first work with Synco - Siemens, which had just appeared at that time. In the meantime, I have moved to the status of a system integrator 2009 -Merten, realizing various home/building automation projects, over 35 projects in the area of KNX with ETS3 to ETS6, with new security functions.... About 6 years ago I decided to share my experience - I took the KNX tutor course in Brussels, in the meantime I have trained over 80 people in KNX courses. A life with KNX Happy birthday KNX

I met KNX in 2010, was immediately fascinated and became a partner in 2013. KNX allowed me to take a leap forward in my profession. It allowed me to meet serious and knowledgeable professionals. I have grown both personally and professionally

I joined the KNX community as a System Integrator and Teacher in the KNX Italy training center because I think that KNX is a good way to automate buildings with simplicity and reliability. In 2019 me and my team began the engineering, commissioning, visualization, and BMS interconnection of the 17 stations on Copenhagen's Cityringen metro line M3. We completed the assignment in August 2019.

I was working on the new terminal of our country's main airport. The testing program at the end of the project took time in the evening. I was all alone in a huge terminal. System was working like a dream. Thinking that I just completed a new terminal and myself and LOTS of other people will walk through this space not knowing that it was my work that made it light up their way. That was really special moment.

For me, both personally and professionally, it's a lifelong passion. I definitely want my entire professional life to revolve around KNX. An unforgettable KNX moment was becoming a Tutor with a score of 79.5... sooooo close to becoming a Tutor Training Center.

I was originally involved in the Smart Home business using products which tied to proprietary protocols and costly processors. Working with KNX has been a pleasure and offers better flexibility and value

For me, KNX is the best protocol for Home Automation.

My hope for KNX in the next 35 years is that it becomes the global standard for smart buildings. Widely adopted in North America, Asia, and beyond. Integrated with APIs, AI, and renewable energy systems. Taught in every technical school.

I joined the KNX Community back in 2014! My most memorable KNX moment was my first KNX commercial project installation in a retail shop. Although the system was only lighting control (more than 2,500 lighting fixtures with DALI), I was confident I could start my business as a system integrator with this project and thought I could change the home and building automation market in my country.

To me, KNX means a big community with a lot of friends.

One of the most memorable moments in my KNX journey was winning two KNX Awards in the same ceremony Best Education Project and the People's Choice Award at 2024. It was a historic moment for the awards and a milestone in my career. From being a nominee in 2022, to making history in 2024, the journey has been unforgettable. And I still keep a KNX as a gift from KNX during my attendance an event for KNX in 2013 that reminds me of how far the journey has come since the early days

There are too many memorable KNX Moments. The first Light&Building for example. The founding of EIB-Userclub-Germany long Time ago. The Founding of KNX Nationals Germany. The Hand-in-Hand Coworking with KNX and Colleagues while preparing the Booths for Fairs like ISH Frankfurt, ELTEFA Stuttgart, IFA Berlin, E-Haus etc. My first KNX Award 2014. The Booth Party. One of our most memorable KNX moments at Atouch was becoming the first manufacturer in the world to have a certified KNX IoT product. It was a milestone that not only validated our commitment to innovation but also marked a new chapter for the entire KNX ecosystem. Being at the forefront of this evolution is something we’re extremely proud of—it motivates us to keep pushing boundaries in smart automation.

One of our most memorable KNX moments was the launch of the S3 product for Waverley at the Jung showroom in London last year. It was a major milestone for us. Since then, the product has truly taken off, being adopted across a number of major projects. Seeing something we've worked so hard on, embraced and scaled in the real world, has been incredibly rewarding.

My KNX journey began even before its official birth, back in 1982 in Bahrain, where I worked passionately with Jung products and early BMS systems. The vision of an open protocol system led me to KNX—first through GIRA, then through formal training in the UK and Sweden. Becoming a certified KNX Tutor transformed my mission: to empower young engineers, especially in India, with this groundbreaking technology. Now at 67, my passion for KNX remains as strong as ever, driving me to teach and inspire the next generation. Wishing the KNX core team continued success with KNX IoT and beyond!

I've been an official member of the KNX community for almost 10 years. My most unforgettable KNX moment... As an intern, I was able to watch over the shoulder of my future trainer as he programmed the EIB. I was so fascinated that I forgot the time. Today, I'm incredibly proud to be able to pass on my knowledge as a KNX trainer, train young people, and support the next generation. I also speak about my passion for KNX on stage as a speaker and expert in building systems technology. For me, personally and professionally, KNX means networking and progress. The right path to the future. KNX is the system that holds us together, that connects us.

Personally i have built a great network within the training center colleagues. With Joost Demarest and Ufuk Unal and I have built a fiendship over more than 20 years. Professionally my trainers team and I have certified thousands of installers in Germany.

One of my most memorable KNX experiences was attending the Plugfest KNX Secure 2025 in Switzerland, hosted by Siemens. The event brought together a wide range of manufacturers including Hager, ABB, Feller, Siemens, and others who demonstrated and tested their products in the context of KNX Secure, KNX IoT, and related technologies. It was a great opportunity to witness the true strength of KNX: its standardized communication protocol that enables seamless interoperability across brands. Additionally, the exchange with other manufacturers was highly educational and inspiring.

My hope for KNX in the next 35 years is that it continues to evolve, that it introduces innovations related for example to the use of AI, and that it continues to be an international reference. As a professional, I consider KNX the most flexible, interoperable, and complete solution on the building automation and systems market.

I've been "playing" KNX since 1996, it was the year of the first EIBA course I did, then I never stopped to learn and growing, and sharing my knowledge. I remember that I used to go around the market at the beginning with a big suitcase equipped with KNX components to show everything that could be done with these magical devices...over time, I had "drawers" full of solutions in search of problems and thanks to KNX I solved so many of them, but the suitcase slowly emptied giving away devices left and right :) Now I am a KNX tutor and my main job is to do consultancy by capitalizing all my thirty years of experience for the market

I was working as an electrician when I first saw a project using KNX and it sparked something in me. From that moment, I knew this was what I wanted to do for a living. Almost 10 years later, I can’t describe the joy I feel knowing I did it. Proud to be part of the KNX journey.

NETxAutomation has been active in the KNX community since its early days, in 2007, soon after KNX was standardized. We joined the KNX community to contribute to and benefit from a global, manufacturer-independent standard. It allowed the collaboration with a broad ecosystem of device manufacturers, integrators, and consultants and helped stay up to date with the latest developments in BMS technology. KNX is an important part of our software, as it has allowed the development of powerful and scalable building automation solutions with guaranteed interoperability.

KNX means a smarter, more comfortable life. Professionally, it means stability, innovation, and limitless opportunity in the world of intelligent environments.

Professionally, KNX has been a cornerstone in building our strategic direction for smart and energy-efficient infrastructures. It enables us to deliver innovative solutions with global compatibility and future readiness. I hope KNX continues to expand globally with more integrations in AI, energy management, and sustainable buildings. My vision is for KNX to be the core platform in every smart city project and educational curriculum around the world.

My most memorable KNX moment: Having had a project nominated for the KNX Award was quite a moment. Becoming a tutor was one as well. Delivering a commercial project with 1000 devices. Visiting Light and Building was breathtaking. It was the first time I've seen in a single place KNX Association its manufacturers and products. Hope to be still there for the 70th anniversary of KNX
