Customers Description

The Desert Rose house is Team University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia’s entrant into the Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME) competition 2018. The Desert Rose was designed and built by students from UOW as well as technical college TAFE New South Wales. Team UOW first built the Desert Rose in Wollongong, between Apr 2018 and Aug 2018. After its initially construction, the house was packed into 8 shipping containers and shipped to Dubai. In Nov 2018, 40 students from UOW and TAFE rebuilt the house in 15 days for the SDME competition. The Desert Rose was shown to perform extremely well in both the measured and judged contests, achieving second place overall with first place in innovation and comfort conditions. A key factor in Team UOW’s success was the use of KNX throughout the house. Using KNX, Team UOW was able to design a comfortable and healthy net-positive energy home that caters to the needs those living with age related disabilities, creating “a house for life”.
