Energy Efficiency
The usage of automated functions already save energy in every installation. Especially the usage of KNX has a lot of potential for further energy savings, which can contribute to a better environmental footprint. Be extending KNX to more functions and applications, energy savings of up to 60% can be realised. Thanks to the flexibility of KNX, these functions can easily be implemented in this installation

Customers Description
This self build project was completed by the owner, a developer himself. There was a requirement to take the lighting, heating, shading & motorised windows all under the same control syetm so KNX was the logical choice.
Function Control designed a system around Gira pushbuttons and X1 visualisation server and at a later date added the Gira S1 for secure access and voice control.
The system controls a mix of under floor heating & radiators as well as the lighting & blinds in the open plan kitchen/dining/living space. There are 2 roof windows brought under the control including rain sensors to block them from opening incase of bad weather.
The project also has a solar water heater which is monitored by KNX which can inhibit the solar from trying to heat the water and switch to gas boiler if the solar isn't heating sufficiently.
