Detailed Description

Energy Efficiency

The usage of automated functions already save energy in every installation. Especially the usage of KNX has a lot of potential for further energy savings, which can contribute to a better environmental footprint. Be extending KNX to more functions and applications, energy savings of up to 60% can be realised. Thanks to the flexibility of KNX, these functions can easily be implemented in this installation

Innovation

Smart homes and buildings are always an upgrade in comparison to a conventional installation. Not only automated functions and a higher level of comfort contribute to a higher living standard, but also the possibility to be ready for coming innovations. Thanks to the usage of KNX, the door has been opened to integrate new innovative solutions, using the worldwide STANDARD for home and building control.

Customers Description

The new Meldal Helsetun in Orkland municipality is designed for 75 housing units, and currently accommodates a total of 67 residents. The building also houses 50 care homes in shared housing units, 25 institutional beds for short-term stays and rehabilitation and base for the home care service. The building mass has a total floor area of approximately 9,400 square meters. KNX was chosen as the preferred system for controlling of light with the use of DALI. The emergency lighting is also controlled and supervised via KNX and DALI, and this is reported back to the buildings BMS system for visualisation and logging. The communication with the BMS system is done with BacNet. With KNX and DALI the customer has got a system that can easily be adjusted to meet the desired functions.
