Rather than each manufacturer having to solve the same problems independently, KNX works collectively to integrate the latest technologies, features and ideas into the standard. The result is a platform that is continuously evolving and one that is guaranteed to remain aligned with the latest market and technology trends.
KNX Association is structured around a series of specialised Working Groups, each responsible for different aspects of the technology and its ecosystem. This organisational model ensures that the standard continuously evolves in line with market developments and emerging industry requirements. A key example is the KNX Technical Board, which plays a central role in overseeing and coordinating technical evolution. It ensures that the KNX specifications are continuously reviewed, adapted and expanded to incorporate new technological trends, maintaining alignment with current, future market needs.
Innovation Through Tools
Simplicity is a key enabler of innovation, and we continue to strengthen it through enhanced tools and digital ecosystems. We are boosting efficiency with new Bulk Linking and Multi Linking capabilities in ETS 6.4, supported by Semantic Import, which removes manual steps by automatically integrating structured data based on the KNX Information Model.
These developments represent concrete steps toward our broader Smart Linking vision, enabling more efficient channel-to-channel configuration.
For manufacturers and developers, the upcoming Open-Source Stack will provide certified KNX IoT software that accelerates product development, reduces complexity and lowers barriers for new innovators.
Alongside this, we are advancing practical AI-enabled experiences and our new approach to energy management will further support this ambition by making the design and commissioning of energy-focused solutions faster, clearer and more accessible.
All of this is complemented by our work on a unified KNX web ecosystem, integrating all KNX sites into one intuitive platform, and by upgraded tools such as the integrated eCampus and new Digital Twin solutions.
Working Ahead of the Curve
KNX works to anticipate change. When the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) was still just a concept, KNX was already working to ensure the standard would meet its requirements. Today, even before the CRA is fully live, KNX is compliant.
The same is true for AI. As artificial intelligence began to gain traction in the built environment, KNX was already implementing AI-driven features within its standard and tools, enabling smarter, more adaptive building controls.
