What is KNX?
KNX Association promotes the KNX standard, a system for Home and Building Controls that:
- is truly open (no royalties for KNX members) and platform independant;
- guarantees multi-vendor and cross-discipline interoperability, ensured via certification and symbolized by the KNX trademark.
- supports many configuration methods (PC tools, device configurators and plug+play) and media (TP, PL, RF, Ethernet)

KNX fully complies to the EN 50090 series, the European Standard for Home and Building Electronic Systems and ISO/IEC 14543.
KNX is an extension of the former EIB system, complemented with media and configuration methods as derived from the former Batibus and the EHS system.
