The KNX UK objectives
KNX UK pursues the following activities, thereby never trespassing on the competitive efforts of the involved industrialists and tradesmen, that is:
- Promoting smart homes and smart buildings in general and the use of KNX for such applications in particular (e.g. via fairs, conferences, workshops, press, presentations, …)
- Translating the promotional material (including press releases) made available by KNX International into the country’s language and subsequent publication in the country for the relevant target groups
- Winning new members for KNX international
- Winning new and supporting existing KNX partners (installers, contractors, designers, training centres, scientific partners, …)
- Promotion of the KNX Engineering Tool Software as the uniform PC platform for the planning, design and commissioning of KNX installations
- Promotion of the inclusion of KNX in the local teaching curricula, amongst others by encouraging local educational institutions (be it public or private) to apply for certification at KNX International according to the KNX requirements
- Promotion of co-operation with the local scientific world via the KNX Scientific Partnership
- Promoting KNX in the relevant national mirror committees of CEN, CENELEC, ETSI, ISO and IEC and other national standardisation committees (e.g. building regulation, …)
KNX UK does not engage in the following activities, as KNX International is the sole responsible body:
- Distribution of the KNX developer’s specifications in full or in part to KNX national members or to third parties
- certification of products according to the rules set out in the KNX specifications Volume 5
- certification of local training centres according to the KNX requirements
- accepting technical institutes and universities as KNX scientific partners
- extending the KNX specifications (e.g. with new system features, device profiles, …)
- extending the ETS software package
- granting licenses on the KNX and legacy trademarks (Batibus, EIB, EHS) to KNX national members or third parties
