The free learning program ETS 3 Tester provides a simple introduction to bus technology. It shows the way to plan KNX projets optimally and reliably using practical examples. With this user-friendly software, you learn in a clear and concrete way how to realize KNX projects.

Planning individual room temperature control has never been simpler. Applications such as heating, shutter- and lighting control are easy to integrate as well, in just a few steps, off-line. Practical and useful examples of applications will help you to convince your customers and offer them a modern and future proof Bus system: KNX!

Important:

• The main feature about ETS 3 Tester: Once you launch the software, it will work with a full license during 30 days. After this period, the software will become ETS 3 Starter in demo mode.
• It is possible to access the bus.
• Downloading KNX devices is possible with the ETS Tester.

ETS 3 Starter

After you have learnt how to use the ETS 3 Tester, you can begin working with the Starter. ETS 3 Starter is the easy-to-use entry-level edition of ETS, to become familiar with KNX programming and to easily realize small “intelligent home” installations.

ETS 3 Starter presents a selection of functionalities, which you accomplish using Starter-ready KNX products; these are simply ETS-ready products for which additional Starter-descriptions must be available in the manufacturer’s “Starter” product-database. Make sure to check carefully with your vendor on which of his products you can use with ETS 3 Starter.

Which projects can I realize with Starter?

• ETS 3 Starter is meant for small, residential buildings (1 KNX line, 64 devices) with limited applications.
• Starter currently supports the following applications (= functions for the occupant):
  • Lighting Control (switching, dimming, staircase timer, …).
  • Shutter & Blinds Control.
  • Individual Room Temperature Control (control of radiator valves via room thermostat per room).
  • Panic switch – security.
  • “All off” function.

Does ETS Starter work with special products only? 

• ETS 3 Starter works with normal, standard “ETS” products(= EIB = KNX S-mode)  – but not necessarily with all these products!
• Only a subset of products selected by the individual manufacturer from his ETS product catalog / product database, will work.
  • To simplify your work, Starter needs to know more about the products and applications than ETS Professional.
  • To achieve this, the manufacturer has to enrich his product database with this extended “Starter” information for the products / applications he chooses.
  • Of course, only products which correspond to the supported Starter functions described above are candidates for inclusion in Starter by the manufacturer.
• Because the products and downloadable application programs used by Starter are normal ones, Interworking remains the same as with ETS Professional.

• When you decide to embark on using Starter, be sure to gather experience with the Tester.
  
• Check with your manufacturers on which of their products you can use in Starter!
• After the first installation of ETS Starter, without license-key you will be able to try the ETS Tester for 30 days in full mode!
• ETS 3 Starter will run under Windows Vista 32 but we can not ensure its full compatibility.

Can I continue with ETS Professional later?

Yes you can!

• Gaining experience with Starter is a perfect preparation to move on to ETS Professional and larger installations when you’re ready for it.
• If you own a Starter licence, you may upgrade to ETS Professional at very advantageous upgrade conditions.
• All devices (products) you can use in Starter, will also work in Professional.
• All projects you realize in ETS 3 Starter can be edited (and extended) in ETS 3 Professional at any time!
