Ordering & Licensing for KNX Tools
General
- If you want to order one or more licenses for one or more KNX tools you must visit the KNX Online Shop: http://onlineshop.knx.org
- In case of a PC dependent version (with Host-ID) of ETS it is absolutely necessary to start the licensing request procedure on the PC where you want to use ETS on! The key you will receive from us will be exclusively linked to that PC!
- You obtain the license key and activate your software in 3 steps:
- Install ETS on each PC you want to use the tool on (see Installation)
- Start KNX Online Shop http://onlineshop.knx.org (see Ordering)
- Unlock the requested KNX tool with the permanent key (see Licensing).
Installation
The first thing to do is to install ETS on your PC. For that you have two possibilities:
- Installation from CD-ROM
You can request your free ETS 3 CD-ROM simply by clicking this link (or email to sales(at)knx.org) After reception of your CD you simply have to install ETS3. - Download from the web site ETS3

After installation either from CD or web, you simply have to follow the ordering procedure to request your key.
Ordering
General:
- If you want to order one or more licenses for one or more KNX tools you must visit the KNX Online Shop: http://onlineshop.knx.org
- In case of a PC dependent version (with Host-ID) of ETS it is absolutely necessary to start the licensing request procedure on the PC where you want to use ETS on! The key you will receive from us will be exclusively linked to that PC!
To get a license key (with or without the dongle) to unlock your package, proceed as follows:
- Start KNX Online Shop http://onlineshop.knx.org (instruction see How to start)
- Please choose the menu New Oder.
In this section you can start ordering one or more products. You will have the list of available products you can choose and the possibility to add them in your basket. When finished you only need to confirm your basket to proceed to payment.
Please note that at any moment you can modify your basket or even cancel it.
Here is an example of the list of product to choose from:

You only need then to enter the quantity for each product you would like to buy and, at the end, click on the button UPDATE BASKET. Once that is done, your request is updated and your basket will reflect the choice you have made.
Here is an example of an ETS 3 order:

You can then add more products in your basket or confirm it by clicking on the CONFIRM ORDER button which will then bring you to the next step. You will then be requested to read and confirm the license agreement and to choose the contact details regarding invoicing.

In the top drop-down menu you will find your own name as contact person if you are the one to receive the invoice. If your invoice has to be made to a different person or address (in the case of different branches in the company for instance) you can then fill in this form instead.
Once you have chosen the contact person and confirmed it, the list of your orders is displayed like in the following example

From this list you can :
- Select the order(s) you want to pay by clicking the box(es)

- Visualize your order in PDF format by clicking its link

- View the details of your order in your browser by clikcing
or deleting and order by clicking 
Payment
General:
- Our business is international. Therefore we accept pre-payment or credit card payment only.
- In case of bank transfer you will receive a proforma invoice.
- For legal matters we cannot send an invoice before payment.
- You will receive the final invoice after payment.
- If you do not have a valid European VAT number 21% VAT must be charged according to Belgian VAT law.
- Outside Europe express sending: dongles sent outside Europe have to be shipped express. Therefore an additional fee of 35 Euro will be charged (except for orders exceeding 5 dongles).
In the case of an order you want to confirm, after selecting it in the list (see Ordering) and clicking on the PROCEED TO PAYMENT button you will be brought to the payment page where you can choose the type of payment you want to use.

Once your choice is made, the procedure will follow and, either you will be redirected to the online payment system for the credit card or you will receive by e-mail all instructions on how to make a bank transfer to KNX.
Payment by credit card
This is indeed the quickest way to get your product and/or your key.
The payment is made online via a secure system and ensure full privacy.
Payment by bank transfer
If you decide to pay via bank transfer we would like to inform you that a couple of extra days will be necessary before delivery as your payment must be first registered into our bank account before processing your order.
- In case of bank transfer you will receive a proforma invoice as an invitation to pay.
- Before payment please check if your name, address, VAT number and ordered products are correct .
- Please pay the full amount indicated on the proforma invoice within 30 days.
- Do not forget to mention your order confirmation number as well as your customer number as reference on your payment.
Payment received by KNX Association
After KNX Association has received your payment you will automatically receive your final invoice, your final key and (in case of a PC independent version) the dongle.

Note (for the PC independent versión with dongle):
- The dongle will be sent by post. Therefore it takes more or less a week before you will receive it.
- You cannot start the licensing procedure before you receive the dongle.
Licensing
PC Dependent version (Host-ID)
- Start your software for which you requested a key
- Check in the licensing procedure the Host-ID number you will find there
- Close your software and visit the KNX Tools Online Shop : http://onlineshop.knx.org
- Use your login to connect to your account
- In the left menu choose the option MY PRODUCTS
- You will find there the products you have ordered. In the KEY column you will find a field where to enter the Host-ID you have found.
- After entering the Host-ID click on the ADD button
- Immediately afterwards, the field is transformed into a link that you just have to click to download your key file. Save the received license key (.lic file) anywhere on your hard disk, just remember where you have saved it!
To unlock the KNX tool proceed as follows:
1. Perform the following steps on the PC on which the KNX tool must be unlocked and used.
2. Save the received license key (.lic file) anywhere on your hard disk, just remember where you have saved it! Start ETS and choose in the top menu EXTRAS the option LICENSING and you will get the following screen
3. Select (click on) the appropriate KNX tool (identical to the one you have requested a license for) and click the button “Unlock Package” to get to the following screen.
4. Check if the “Activate from File” option is marked, then click on “Browse” in order to find the .lic file where you have saved it. When found, just open the file and you will come back to the screen above. Then click on “Unlock” and your ETS is now licensed and you should see, for instance in the case of ETS 3 Pro
PC Independent version (Dongle)
- You must wait until you receive the dongle by post! Before receiving the dongle it is not possible to retrieve the license key that goes with it.
- After you have received the dongle, check out its ID number (it can be found on the dongle itself and is the number you will find after the indication FLEXID). The code number start with 9-
- Visit the KNX Tools Online Shop: http://onlineshop.knx.org
- Use your login to connect to your account
- In the left menu choose the option MY PRODUCTS
- You will find there the products you have ordered. In the KEY column you will find a field where to enter the Dongle ID you have found.
- After entering the Dongle ID click on the ADD button
- Immediately afterwards, the field is transformed into a link that you just have to click to download your key file. Save the received license key (.lic file) anywhere on your hard disk, just remember where you have saved it!
To unlock the KNX tool proceed as follows:
1. Perform the following steps on the PC on which the KNX tool must be unlocked and used.
- Note:
You have to repeat the following steps at any PC on which you want to use the PC independent version.
2. You just have to insert the dongle in any USB port of your PC. Then, Windows will react and you must wait until Windows informs you that the equipment you are trying to install is ready to use.
3. Start ETS and choose in the top menu EXTRAS the option LICENSING and you will get the following screen
4. Select (click on) the appropriate KNX tool (identical to the one you have requested a license for) and click the button “Unlock Package” to get to the following screen.
5. Check if the “Activate from File” option is marked, then click on “Browse” in order to find the .lic file where you have saved it. When found, just open the file and you will come back to the screen above. Then click on “Unlock” and your ETS is now licensed and you should see, for instance in the case of ETS 3 Pro.
Note:
Do not forget that, after licensing ETS, you always need to plug in the dongle in a USB port of your PC to use ETS ! Moreover ETS must always be started after plugging in the dongle. Without the dongle, your ETS will be in demo mode !
Key replacement (for PC Independent version – Host-ID- only)
It may happen after changing an old PC for a new one, or replacing a hard disk, that the Host-ID is changed. In that case your license key is not valid anymore. As a customer you are entitled to receive 2 Host-ID changes per year maximum. If ever, you have to change your license key, proceed as follows :
- Visit the online shop and log in
- Go in the section MY PRODUCTS
In the list of licenses you own, find out which one is the one you need to change
On the right of the license info you will see the following icone
Click the icone to get the full details about your license.
- On the new page you will find a link
Click on the green link and you will then have the possibility to enter the new Host-ID.
- Once it is entered (double check to be sure) you can confirm it by clicking REPLACE
Automatically, on the same page, you can download the new key
Important note: if you have already made two changes the same year the link to replace the key will not appear and only the mention NO REPLACEMENT POSSIBLE will be displayed.
